Rika — Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By creating an account or using Rika, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the service.

You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction to use Rika. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

These Terms are a legal agreement between you and Rika AI, Inc. ("Company," "we," "us," or "our").


2. Description of Service

Rika is a personal AI app for iOS that learns about you over time — your goals, routines, health data, calendar, and daily habits — to help you stay organized, build routines, track progress, and follow through on commitments.

Rika provides:

  • A daily briefing with personalized cards (sleep, activity, schedule, nutrition, custom routines)
  • A conversational AI chat interface
  • Routine and checklist cards you create and manage
  • Health and activity tracking via Apple HealthKit integration
  • Proactive notifications and nudges throughout the day
  • A Live Activity on your lock screen
  • Rika is not a medical, financial, legal, or therapeutic advisor. Rika is a personal productivity and wellness tool powered by AI. It does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, provide financial advice, or replace any licensed professional.


    3. Your Account

    You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Providing accurate information when creating your account
  • One account per person. Don't share your account credentials with others. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@rika247.com.


    4. Your Content and Data

    Inputs are things you provide to Rika — messages you send, goals you set, health data from your device, calendar events, food logs, routine cards, and anything else you share with the service.

    Outputs are things Rika generates for you — briefing cards, chat responses, insights, nudges, nutrition estimates, and any other content Rika creates based on your inputs.

    You own your inputs. We don't claim ownership over what you tell Rika or the data you share.

    We assign outputs to you. To the extent we have any rights in the outputs Rika generates for you, we assign those rights to you.

    You grant us a license to use your inputs to provide, maintain, and improve the service. This license is limited to operating Rika — we won't sell your content or use it for advertising.

    You are responsible for the accuracy of what you share with Rika. If you provide incorrect health data, calendar information, or other inputs, Rika's outputs will reflect that.


    5. Data and Privacy

    This section provides a high-level overview. Our full [Privacy Policy] governs how we collect, use, and protect your data.

    What Rika accesses (with your permission):

  • Apple HealthKit data: sleep, steps, active calories, workouts, heart rate, nutrition
  • Device calendar: events, schedules
  • Location: for contextual recommendations (if permitted)
  • Notifications: for proactive nudges and reminders
  • How we use your data:

  • To generate your personalized daily briefing
  • To power Rika's conversational responses
  • To provide health and activity insights
  • To send relevant proactive notifications
  • To improve the service
  • What we don't do:

  • We do not sell your personal data
  • We do not share your data with advertisers
  • We do not use your health data for advertising purposes
  • We do not share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes
  • Data security:

  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Health data is handled in compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines
  • Data retention:

  • Your data is retained as long as your account is active
  • Upon account deletion, your personal data is deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law
  • Aggregated, anonymized data that cannot identify you may be retained for service improvement
  • Conversations and service improvement:

  • Your conversations with Rika may be used to improve the service
  • You can opt out of this in your account settings
  • Even when used for improvement, your data is not shared with third parties

  • 6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

    Rika is powered by artificial intelligence. This means:

  • Rika's responses may not always be accurate. AI models can produce incorrect, incomplete, or outdated information.
  • Rika is not a substitute for professional advice. Do not rely on Rika for medical diagnoses, financial decisions, legal counsel, or mental health treatment.
  • Rika may occasionally hallucinate. This is a known limitation of AI systems — Rika may present information confidently that turns out to be wrong.
  • You are responsible for your decisions. Rika provides information and suggestions, but you make the final call on how to act on them.
  • Nutrition estimates are approximate. Rika estimates macros based on common nutritional data and typical serving sizes. These are not precise measurements.
  • We work continuously to improve Rika's accuracy, but no AI system is perfect.


    7. Health Data Terms

    Given the sensitivity of health data, we want to be especially clear:

  • Rika reads health data from Apple HealthKit only with your explicit permission
  • Rika does not write data to HealthKit
  • Health data is used solely to provide personalized briefing cards, insights, and contextual responses
  • Rika does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice
  • Health insights (sleep scores, activity trends, nutrition tracking) are informational only
  • Rika's handling of HealthKit data complies with Apple's HealthKit guidelines and requirements
  • Health data is never used for advertising and is never sold to third parties
  • Health data is never shared with third parties except as necessary to provide the core service (e.g., processing through our AI infrastructure)
  • If you have a medical condition or health concern, consult a qualified healthcare professional. Rika's health insights are meant to complement — not replace — professional medical care.


    8. Acceptable Use

    Don't use Rika to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Harass, threaten, or harm others
  • Generate content that is illegal, abusive, or harmful
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the AI models or underlying technology
  • Share your account access with others
  • Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access the service
  • Misrepresent Rika's AI-generated outputs as professional medical, financial, or legal advice
  • Attempt to circumvent any security features or usage limits
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service for other users
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.


    9. Subscriptions and Payments

    Rika offers subscription plans billed through the Apple App Store.

  • Billing: All payments are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We do not directly collect or store your payment information.
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • How to cancel: You can cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their App Store refund policies. Contact Apple Support for refund requests.
  • Price changes: If we change subscription prices, we will notify you in advance. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price. You can always cancel before the new price takes effect.
  • Free features: Some features of Rika may be available without a subscription. We reserve the right to change which features are included in free and paid tiers.

  • 10. Intellectual Property

    Rika's name, brand, icon, visual design, user interface, and underlying technology are owned by Rika AI, Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws.

    You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Rika app or service
  • Use Rika's name, logo, or branding without our written permission
  • Create derivative works based on Rika's technology
  • Any open source components used in Rika are governed by their respective open source licenses.


    11. Third-Party Services

    Rika uses third-party services to operate:

  • AI Models: Rika uses AI models from Anthropic (Claude) to power conversational features. Your messages are processed through these services to generate responses.
  • Apple Integrations: Rika integrates with Apple HealthKit, EventKit (calendar), and other iOS services. These integrations are subject to Apple's terms and policies.
  • Infrastructure: Rika uses third-party cloud services for hosting and data storage.
  • We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or changes to third-party services. If a third-party service changes or becomes unavailable, it may affect Rika's functionality.


    12. Modifications to Service

    We may update, modify, add, or remove features at any time. This includes changes to:

  • The AI models powering Rika's responses
  • Available briefing cards and features
  • Subscription tiers and pricing
  • The user interface and experience
  • We will attempt to notify users of material changes through email or in-app notifications. Continued use of Rika after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified service.


    13. Termination

    You can leave anytime. Delete your account through the app settings. Upon deletion:

  • Your personal data will be deleted within 30 days
  • Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained
  • Data required for legal compliance may be retained as required by law
  • We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or pose a risk to other users or the service. We will attempt to notify you before or at the time of suspension, except in cases requiring immediate action.


    14. Disclaimers

    THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

    In plain English: We work hard to make Rika useful and reliable, but we can't guarantee it will always be accurate, available, or error-free. AI systems have inherent limitations, and you should use your own judgment when acting on Rika's outputs.

    We do not warrant that:

  • Rika's responses will be accurate, complete, or current
  • The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Any errors will be corrected
  • The service will meet your specific requirements

  • 15. Limitation of Liability

    TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).

    IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON RIKA'S OUTPUTS.

    This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.


    16. Indemnification

    You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rika AI, Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the service
  • Content you provide to Rika
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third party's rights
  • Any decisions you make based on Rika's outputs

  • 17. Dispute Resolution

    Binding Arbitration: Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Rika shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules.

    Opt-Out: You may opt out of arbitration by sending written notice to support@rika247.com within 30 days of creating your account. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the courts described below.

    Class Action Waiver: You agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis. You waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding.

    Small Claims Exception: Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court.

    Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.

    Jurisdiction: For disputes not subject to arbitration, the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California shall have exclusive jurisdiction.


    18. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding Rika.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment: We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms. You may not assign yours without our written consent.

  • 19. Changes to Terms

    We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes:

  • We will notify you by email or in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect
  • The "Last Updated" date at the top will be revised
  • Continued use of Rika after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms
  • If you don't agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using Rika and delete your account before the changes take effect.
